ADHD (Attention Deficit Hypersensitivity Disorder) is an illness that happens to an individual from his childhood and would continue till being an adult. It makes a person incapable of paying attention to something or even makes him impulsive over smallest of the things.
A child or an adult cannot concentrate on completing a particular task due to a lack of attention. The decision-making ability gradually decreases as and when you lose hope. It also deteriorates the self-confidence of a person. In some individuals, this illness can last from childhood to adolescence while in some people it can stay for a lifetime.
Scientifically it is said that this illness is due to genetics. If either of the parents is currently undergoing ADHD, then there are fewer chances for the child to be born with it. But in most cases, if both parents have it, then the child is definitely having ADHD.
5 Signs to know that an individual is suffering from ADHD
- Lack of Attention
- Hypersensitive or Impulsive
- Low Self –Esteem
- People pleasing
- Mood swings
Lack of Attention
In ADHD people naturally, become careless and tend to forget major things that they do in day-to-day Lifelike if they have placed Milk Pot on Gas, they completely forget about it even after the milk has been spilled out. This forgetting of things is not due to a carefree attitude but is genuine as your brain functions in that way and fails to send necessary signals to your brain.
In children’s, they might forget to complete their important Homework submissions, they can forget to pack their bags properly on particular school days, they can sometimes fail to let their parents know about the PTA meetings conducted the next day, and many more of them.
In adults, they can fail to get children from school, forget about where they have kept their important documents, fail to remember whether they have paid money during shopping, they might also forget the spectacles on their forehead and keep searching for them in the entire house.
Basically, your brain is not able to concentrate properly on whatever you might be performing. Because of this symptom, you always tend to listen to the people around you.
Hypersensitive or Impulsive
ADHD makes a person very emotional and fragile and they always come up with outbursts of too many feelings. If they attach themselves too much to someone, they tend to hurt themselves very easily. Like if some loveable person scolds him for a particular reason they might break down very badly and would create a ruckus about it.
On the other hand, they are extremely impulsive about what is close to them. They can stretch to any limit when it comes to protecting themselves or their near ones. There is absolutely no doubt in how such people react as spontaneity and destruction come hand in hand.
When they are impulsive they cannot be handled as they might hurt themselves or others. They also tend to overreact about minor problems.

Low Self-Esteem
This illness often creates a Low Self Esteem in a person in his own eyes as he feels he is different from others. It is a mental breakdown of his emotional health. He starts feeling that he is inferior to everyone and doesn’t know how to deal with around.
It’s been said by OSHO that it’s better to have faith in your own opinion, or else the world will make you live a perfect life. Nothing, in the end, matters as only loving and respecting yourself will make you love others.
‘Believe in yourself, and the World will respect you‘.
People Pleasing
One’s identity is lost when one fears they are suffering from ADHD. He doesn’t give an opinion on anything and starts leading a life that is suggested by his surrounding people.
He basically forgets what his own personality was and tries to please everyone around him. This might be because of the fear of getting left out. But the only solution to it is having a strong personality that leaves a mark /an impact on others.
And rather than that person pleasing them, people should get attracted by his charm, smartness, and witty attitude.
‘Make Self-Esteem expensive, to be loved by the society‘.
Mood Swings
In ADHD a person tends to portray extreme mood swings, for one moment they are very happy and for the next half an hour they will be either aggressive or arrogant about something just happened.
They believe in portraying their emotion then and there without manipulating them for a fraction of a second. They feel very confused about what they are feeling and then they feel bad about it.
Even the slightest change irritates them and makes them furious. It is very easy for other people to hit their triggers and agitate them more.
Treatment & Medications
In the Treatment of ADHD, medications are given to increase neurotransmitters thereby increasing or stimulating hormones like’ Dopamine and Norepinephrine’. The medicines are basically given to control the patient’s Hyperactivity and Impulsiveness.
ADHD patients can be treated either by Medicines or through Behavioral therapy.
Medicines like Stimulants can give increase dopamine and norepinephrine hormone for better functionality of the patient. These stimulants are fast, and safe, and react in a positive way to give relief to an individual.
Whereas Non-Stimulants like Anti-Depressants control the hypersensitive activity of your brain and calm one down drastically. But these medicines make a person dependent on them in their day-to-day life.
Behavioral Therapy
It’s very important for a person suffering from ADHD to be a part of a positive environment; where people are more approachable and listen to his thoughts. The ratio of ADHD is seen most commonly in Boys giving them that comfortable space to express their feelings, sufferings, and thoughts.
